Yale-New Haven Hospital honored as top 10 nonprofit employer for executive women

The NAFE is one of the country's largest associations for women professionals and business owners has named Yale-New Haven Hospital to its 2013 10 Nonprofits for Executive Women list, and will honor the facility at a gala luncheon in New York City on March 20.

NAFE provides resources through education, networking and public advocacy to "empower its members to achieve both career and personal success." The list recognizes organizations whose policies and practices encourage women's advancement and whose numbers at the highest levels of leadership demonstrate that commitment.

"Yale-New Haven Hospital is totally committed to workplace equality. It is just one of the ways Yale-New Haven distinguishes itself as an employer of choice," said Marna P. Borgstrom, chief executive officer, YNHH. "We're honored to be recognized by NAFE for something that we regard as integral to who we are and what we do."

YNHH has been recognized as the employer of choice for the region, offering many benefits and programs to help not only female employees, but all employees meet work-life demands, such as internal advancement, tuition reimbursement, dependent tuition, employee health and wellness programs, and a unique performance incentive plan which allows employees to share in the hospital's financial success.

In addition, the hospital has found that flexible work arrangements such as telecommuting, part-time and casual status, compressed workweeks, job sharing and an on-site daycare for hospital employees were particularly appealing to older workers and attractive to new applicants and women interested in returning to the workforce after having a child.
