After raising $2.3 million in funding from notable investors, which included Vint Cerf, who is often referred to as one of the fathers of the Internet, the firm launched in beta in April 2012. Evntlive will now be shutting down and the employees from the firm will be working on Yahoo projects. The company wrote on its website, "Since launching our beta service in April 2013, we have live streamed hundreds of performances from amazing artists and festivals to fans all over the world. Although our service will no longer be available, we are excited to be joining Yahoo's video team."

PC World reports Yahoo may soon be broadcasting more live concerts since it has acquired live music streaming startup Evntlive. Yahoo has acquired Evntlive as part of an initiative to expand its entertainment offerings. This is a big deal for Yahoo because it boosts a primary area of focus for Yahoo in media and entertainment. This looks like an interesting development in the revival of Yahoo under CEO Marissa Mayer.
