The CEO of Yahoo.com recently put a ban on all work at home employees because she determined personnel needed to be in the office to perform better. What she does not seem to realize is the fact there are many persons who need to work at home for one reason or another. For example, there are telecommuters who cannot afford to have someone watch their child so they need to work from home. There are telecommuters who are disabled yet they can work from home and perform the necessary needed work directly via computer.
A larger matter is what this Yahoo CEO has lacked in doing before beginning the telecommuting capability. Were the personnel trained, status is saying the personnel of Yahoo were not trained and they were not given the correct knowledge of how to perform time management when working at home. It raises the question had these personnel been given the correct training would they still be able to perform their job and the answer to that would be most likely.
Telecommuting is a wise choice for corporations to consider as the choice allows companies to expand and grow with many changes taking place. When any type of technology comes onto scene of a company, there must be training. The same philosophy must be followed when telecommuting is used. All personnel must be aware of what he or she are expected to do while on the computer server clock.
