Famed Young Adult author R.L. Stine has a new story out this summer. In an unprecedented collaboration, Stine joins twenty-two of the world’s bestselling thriller writers in "FACEOFF," an eleven-story anthology from the International Thriller Writers. For "FACEOFF," Stine and the others were tasked with something never done before in the literary arena—to bring the world’s most beloved thriller characters head-to-head in 11 electrifying stories.

Stine faces-off (pun intended) with authors Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child in the anthology. “They [Douglas Preston & Lincoln Child] have a real character," Stine says. "They have this albino FBI agent, Agent Pendergast, who’s in all their books, and their books are huge sellers. And I do a different character every month. ‘Goosebumps’ never has the same character twice, pretty much. My most popular character is Slappy, the evil dummy, from ‘Night of the Living Dummy,’ and I just thought, What would happen if we took Pendergast, who’s in the real world and put him in a weird R.L. Stine world where people tell him, ‘Well, you’re not even an FBI agent. We don’t know what you’re doing.’ And then I just threw in this evil ventriloquist dummy, just to be weird.'

R.L. Stine is one of the bestselling children’s authors in history. His "Goosebumps" series for young people has sold over 300 million copies in the United States alone, and has become a publishing phenomenon in 32 languages around the world. His other popular children’s book series include "Fear Street," "Mostly Ghostly," "The Nightmare Room," and "Rotten School." His anthology television series, "R.L. Stine’s The Haunting Hour," won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Children’s Series.

About the creative process for creating the anthology, Stine says, "They said: ‘Why don’t you come up with the story? You come up with the plot, and then we’ll write it and then send it to you and you can rewrite what we did.’ And that was the whole process.”

"FACEOFF" is edited by New York Times bestselling author David Baldacci and available now from Simon & Schuster. Other author pairings include: Dennis Lehane vs. Michael Connelly; Jeffery Deaver vs. John Sandford; Lee Child vs. Joseph Finder; M.J. Rose vs. Lisa Gardner; Steve Martini vs. Linda Fairstein; Steve Berry vs. James Rollins; John Lescroart vs. T. Jefferson Parker; Heather Graham vs. F. Paul Wilson, and more.

The International Thriller Writers is an honorary society of authors, both fiction and nonfiction, who write books broadly classified as “thrillers.” In addition, ITW promotes literacy, gives money to worthy organizations, supports libraries, and advances the genre.
