Phyllis Newman has left the building and “The Young and the Restless” the writers and producers of “Y&R” now need to deal with the death of Katherine Chancellor. While the character of Phyllis Newman may be recast, the role of Katherine Chancellor will not.
Saying goodbye to Phyllis Newman has occupied much of the screen time on, but according to an email dated Aug. 3 from a source at “The Young and the Restless” the writers and producers have not forgotten that Katherine needs a proper, dignified and respectful goodbye as well.
On Monday, Aug. 5 Chelsea is in labor, but given the date of conception, the baby will be born healthy. Of course, Chelsea knows that if she delivers a healthy baby this soon Dylan will know the truth and Adam will have even more proof that he is the father of Chelsea’s baby.
Not only do the writers have to further along the Dylan-Chelsea-Adam triangle of lies, they need to further along the Neil-Rose-Leslie story. The death of Katherine Chancellor needs to be written with the proper dignity and respect her portrayer Jeanne Cooper deserves.
Jeanne Cooper, who portrayed Katherine for 40 years on “Y&R," passed away from advanced COPD on May 8, 2013.
