'Y&R' lost 244,000 viewers after Billy Miller and Michael Muhney exits

“The Young and the Restless” enjoyed some of its highest ratings ever in the week leading up to the departure of Billy Miller and Michael Muhney. Fans of Miller and Muhney claimed it was because they were tuning in to watch the last scenes with their favorite actors. Others said the ratings were due to the fact that “Y&R”, which has been the number one soap for 25 years, has strong storylines and that the exits of Miller and Muhney did not affect the ratings.

The new numbers are out and were posted by Soap Opera Network on Feb 14, and show a dip in the ratings for three of the four soap operas. The most significant drop in ratings shows that “Y&R” lost 244,000 viewers from the previous week. However, the ratings also show that the CBS daytime drama has increased viewership of 718,000 over the same period last year. For the reporting period ending Feb. 7 “The Young and the Restless” had 5,482,000 viewers despite the loss of 244,000 viewers.
