Recently Michael Muhney’s mother confirmed via Twitter that her son has no intention of returning to “The Young and the Restless.” Executive producer Jill Farren Phelps, according to a report on July 9, that no actor has yet been recast for the role of Adam Newman despite the fact that fans have been shown “Adam Newman’s” hands for weeks. When asked in a recent interview how the search for a new Adam Newman was progressing, Phelps tersely replied, “It’s going.”
Though Jill Farren Phelps answer regarding the recast of Adam Newman was short, she did heap praise upon the current cast at “The Young and the Restless.” Having garnered six Daytime Emmy Awards this year, Phelps was excited to talk about the amazing cast with whom she has the pleasure of working. In the interview Phelps goes on for several paragraphs about the cast of “The Young and the Restless” and recasting the role of Phyllis Newman with Gina Tognoni.
In the interview Jill Farren Phelps indicated that she has all her hopes pinned on the recast of Adam Newman, hoping that it will blow fans out of the water. Whomever replaces Michael Muhney will need to be a big name with a huge following in order to save the rapidly declining ratings of “The Young and the Restless.” Many had thought that Cameron Mathison, ex-Ryan Lavery from “All My Children” would take over the role, but Mathison squashed those rumors recently via Twitter.
While the “Y&R” executive producer is still on the hunt for an actor to fill the shoes of Michael Muhney as Adam Newman fans who have been loyal to the show have been left twisting in the wind. There have been consistent complaints from fans regarding the quality of the storylines as well as lack of character development.
