While The Bold and the Beautiful and Days Of Our Lives gained in total overall viewers, and gained in total viewers for the key women 18-49 women demo. The Young and the Restless hit a new low of 623,000 in women 18-49 and lost 69,000 viewers though they are still #1 in that category. They also remain #1 in the 25-54 demo. General Hospital lost the most viewers with -175,000. So total viewers for the week of June 30-July 4th show Y&R at number one.
We must remember that this is a big week for travel and so many fans may have been away from their TV screens. Of, course most do DVR to watch when they get home.
With the loss of some of their top actors on Y&R leaving and GH gobbling them up, Y&R still has the talent to keep it on top.
Does Y&R have anything to worry about? Of course, no matter how many viewers you have you have to find a way to keep them and many fans feel the influx of characters who do not have any reason to be there is a problem. They clamor for legacy characters to get back into the storylines and back to "business".
General Hospital has the same problem with unneeded characters taking up the time the major characters should have.
