Hot on the heels of Julie Marie Berman exiting her role as Lulu Spencer on General Hospital, Soap Opera Digest is reporting that Emme Rylan (previously known as Marcy), who currently plays Abby Newman on "The Young and the Restless," will be taking over the role of Lulu in the role. Berman, who has already taped her last scenes, earned two daytime Emmys for her role as Luke and Laura's headstrong daughter.
Rylan's tenure on "The Young and the Restless" has been a turbulent one. The actress was left go as a result of the behind the scenes addition of new EP Jill Feren Phelps and head writer Josh Griffin. She returned in a recurring capacity late last year despite being Victor Newman's daughter. No first air date for Rylan nor has a last air date for Berman been announced at this time. Rylan was previously on The Guiding Light. An exit storyline for Abby is not known as this time.
Casting high profile soap stars from "General Hospital" to "The Young and the Restless" has been news worthy in recent years. The CBS soap had cast Genie Francis, Stephen Nichols in contact roles, hiring most recently long time vet and GH favorite Steve Burton.
Rylan's hiring to the ABC soap marks the first in a while that an actor has gone from "Y & R" to "General Hospital."
"The Young and the Restless" airs weekdays on CBS.
"General Hospital" airs weekdays on ABC.
