Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente presented their two new reinforcements for the Clausura 2014 on Friday, Dec. 27, 2013 at the Caliente stadium. The two players are the team’s big contract signings this season and will join La Liga MX Apertura 2012 champions.
Ecuadorian Jaimen Javier Ayovi and Argentine Hernan Pellerano were presented by team President Jorgealberto Hank and Sport Director Ignacio Palou. The two directors welcomed the players to the club as they prepare for the challenges of the Clausura 2014 and the CONCACAF Champions League.
“We’re very happy to have both players,” Palou said. “We’ve been following their careers and now we have them here. We’re confident they are here to add to the team and to help us meet our objectives.”
Ayovi arrives after a loan spell with Ecuador’s LDU Quito. Xolos had previously signed Ayovi but sent him off to Ecuador to recover from injury and regain form. Ayovi previously played in La Liga MX with CF Pachuca.
“We arrive at a great team with a great lineup,” Ayovi said after his presentation. “We have the intention to compete and give our all for both tournaments. We are looking forward for the new season to start.”
Pellerano, younger brother of defender Cristian Pellerano, arrives from UD Almeria in Spain’s La Liga. Pellerano was a key player in helping the Spanish side reach the first division this season. He will get the opportunity to play with his brother, something he says has been a dream for him.
“I was in Tijuana last year,” the younger Pellerano said. “I had the opportunity to visit the locker room. The team looks united and humble. For that reason they have achieved what they have. This is earned with humility, sacrifice and good elements.”
Pellerano also had praise for both Mexican soccer, and his new club.
“In the last couple of years Mexico has become a great base for football on the world scale,” Pellerano added. “Club Tijuana has taken giant steps in the last couple of years, that, besides the fact that I will be able to play with my brother, was the reason I came to the team.”
