Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente will take on Club Santos Laguna at the TSM Corona Stadium on Friday during week 7 action of the Clausura 2014 of La Liga MX. The Aztec dogs are looking to earn their first away win of the season.

So far Xolos have won three home games and drawn on one occasion. They began the Clausura 2014 season with a 0-0 at the Jalisco Stadium. However, that is the only positive result they’ve had on the road. Xolos fell 2-1 to Pachuca, then suffered a major blow against Pumas UNAM at the Olimpico Universitario Stadium losing 3-0.

At the Caliente Stadium the dogs have maintained a perfect record with three wins. So far Xolos have extended their undefeated home streak; one that dates back to April 20, 2013. But they have not had any luck as an away team. In fact, other than winning several Copa Libertadores and CONCACAF Champions League games, the last time Xolos won an away league game was Jan. 20, 2013.

There have been five games between the two squads. What is memorable for the Aztec dogs is that their first win came against Santos, a 3-1 at the TSM Corona in the Apertura 2011, was their first victory in La Liga MX. Since then Xolos have lost one, and drawn on three occasions.

Xolos coach Cesar Farias had the opportunity to train his team in Torreon on Thursday doing the final preparations for the upcoming match. This is the first time that Farias will face Pedro Caixinha on the pitch. So Far Caixinha has only managed two draws against Tijuana.

During the match, goalkeeper Cirilo Saucedo will be playing in his 300th game in the Mexican league. He began his career with Leon FC in Primera A, but ascended after joining Dorados de Sinaloa in 2004. He passed through Tigres UANL and Indios de Juarez before transferring to Tijuana. With the rojinegros he has participated in 108 games, including CONCACAF Champions League and Copa Libertadores.

Tijuana currently sits in the 7th position on the league table with 10 points. They are currently in playoff position, and will be playing the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Champions League in March.

Xolos will take on Santos on Friday, Feb. 14, 2014 at the 7:30 pm PST at the TSM Corona Stadium.
