Today there are literally hundreds of learning tools out there for children, from computer games, to apps on mobile devices and videos they can watch. While products that teach children to read, and perform basic math is great to get those creative juices flowing, few products hit a level of learning and creativity that the XO Tablet is based on. A parent, uncle, friend or co-worker can buy or suggest something for learning, but who knows what your child really likes? The answer is simply, the child.
The XO Tablet by Vivitar is a fully functional tablet with a special launcher built for Android tablets. A child's mind is a quickly growing and developing place, and all the interest that a child can get into is more than most parents can keep up with. The goal of the XO Tablet is to let your child test out their dreams (profession), and do things oriented to that dream. So if your child wants to be a chef or a DJ or a Doctor, there will be per-approved apps available that will be oriented around learning for that profession.
If there are more than a single child in the household, that’s no problem either, each child (up to three children), can have their own profile, that will keep track of everything they do on the tablet. From apps and games, to web pages visited and documents created.
The parents profile can view all of this information, so you can see where your child excels and spends the most time at. You can also set up restrictions for things like, app purchases, and web access for each profile. So older children can have more access, or access can be changed as the child matures.
The XO Tablet is a wonderful concept, there are a couple of things that could be changed, first and foremost, cloud profiles. Some house holds have four children, with four tablets, having the ability to pick up any tablet and access that profile would be great. Also the ability to require your child to perform a certain amount of task or time in each profession could be useful to require they try something new. Of course parents can always sit with their child and work with them to complete such actions.
The XO Tablet hasn't been released yet, but any parent should know about this and have it budgeted for any little ones in the house. You can learn more at XO-learning.org
