X-Men: Days of Future Past is getting quite a bit of buzz as we get closer to the release of the film. A report that surfaced on Sunday could mean at least one person isn’t going to be all that psyched when the final cut is shown on the big screen.
According to X-Men insiders, Halle Berry’s Storm character has had almost all her scenes cut from the movie. It bears mentioning that there are roughly 800 different mutants appearing in Days of Future Past so its not that surprising that Berry has found her scenes lying on the cutting room floor.
At the same time, it is a little surprising that X-Men creators cut scenes of one of the most well-known actresses in Hollywood. Halle Berry’s Storm also played a pretty central character in the older X-Men movies so her being left out is likely going to not make her all that happy at the very least.
On the other hand, Days of Future Past is actually more about the reboot of the series, starting with X-Men: First Class. We will be seeing plenty of guys from the first part of the X-Men series, including Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen. The fact of the matter is this movie is more a way to officially hand off the baton to X-Men: First Class stars. X-Men: Days of Future Past will mostly be a way to move past the first group that included Berry.
The cutting of Halle Berry’s scenes also wouldn’t be unheard of when it comes to the way Days of Future Past creators have operated in the past. Earlier this year it came out that Anna Paquin had most of her scenes cut from the newest X-Men movie as well.
Much like Paquin and her Rogue character, Halle Berry has apparently been left with exactly one line in the film. Perhaps even funnier is the fact that the people working on the newest X-Men flick aren’t all that excited to let the star know. The New York Daily News reports Bryan Singer and company have basically decided to wait until the movie premieres and let her see it for herself.
It should be pointed out that the website SuperHeroHype claims it contacted its sources and the reports of her being cut out of Days of Future Past are greatly exaggerated. It doesn’t appear we’ll know the whole truth on the matter until X-Men: Days of Future Past is released on May 23.
