Kurt Van Keppel, president of XIKAR, visited Stag Tobacconist and Cigar King in Scottsdale last Thursday and Friday to talk about cigars and accessories with cigar enthusiasts.
Among the many things Van Keppel talked about was the new products that XIKAR has recently released, including the new X8 cutter and XTX lighter, as well as the Havana Collection and Mayan Collection of cigars and lighters, both aimed at specific cigar smoking consumers.
Van Keppel said that XIKAR sees three main segments of the cigar community - the old-fashioned, European-oriented, continental type cigar smoker that wants the super-elegant smoke and super-elegant accessories; the group that grew up during the cigar boom, and are totally Havana oriented, which gave birth to the Havana Collection, and a new group of cigar smokers with an affinity toward everything indiginous. Van Keppel said they want to know about the culture and everything about the cigar from seed to smoke, and that XIKAR responded to them by bringing out the Mayan Collection, which reflects the indiginous art of the cigar.
