XFC officially grants Heather Clark permission to try out for TUF 20

"Hurricane" Heather Jo Clark (6-4) said on Dec. 23 in an exclusive interview with Long Island MMA Examiner Eric Holden that the XFC has officially granted her permission to try out for TUF 20.

Clark, 33, is pleased XFC President John Prisco decided to give her the opportunity to take a step forward in her MMA career by allowing her to compete for one of the final five spots on the UFC's long-running reality show.

"John sent me a release and I'm thankful that he did," Clark said. "I'm definitely going to be at [TUF 20] tryouts and I'm coming to win."

The official release, sent by Prisco to Clark, stated that the XFC is willing to grant her a release to participate in TUF 20 if the opportunity is to present itself, and that she would be a great addition to the show.

Props to the XFC for recognizing that allowing Clark the opportunity to participate in TUF 20 is also great exposure for their own organization.

If she does go on to make the show and win, it legitimizes the XFC as a perhaps the top MMA organization for developing undiscovered up-and-coming talent.

Clark, who trains at Syndicate Gym in Las Vegas, Nev., is a former D-I hockey player who has also competed in amateur boxing.

She has won two of four during her XFC tenure, including victories over Hannah Cifers and Avery Vilche.

If she does make it into the TUF 20 house, she'll be forced to live for six weeks with her long-time rival, Invicta FC vet Felice "Lil' Bulldog" Herrig.

Clark says she'll be able to stay mentally composed and focused on the ultimate goal of the UFC strawweight title even if Herrig tries to start drama with her in the TUF 20 house.

"I don't know. She might try to be nice to me," Clark said when asked by Pro WMMA! Now show host Gina Begley if there's any way she'll be able to squash the "beef" with Herrig. "And what am I going to do, be a b*tch back? No. I mean if she's cordial to me than I'm going to be cordial back and we'll settle it in the cage.

"But honestly I don't think she has the class. I don't think she has even the intelligence to do that, so that's just my opinion. We'll see I guess. It's just an unknown. Like I said, there's nothing she can do to me that can make me lose the opportunity to lose the whole show. I will be able to keep my mind and my focus."

Clark lost to Herrig earlier this year at Bellator 94, and she's been itching to get back in the cage with her ever since.

"I think she has a right to be on there," Clark said of Herrig's selection to the TUF 20 house. "I think she has proven that she's able to stand there and fight. But I don't think her last fight was anything special. I think Tecia [Torres] is an amazing fighter and I don't take anything away from her when I say this, but I just was not impressed by anything Felice [Herrig] did in that fight and I really think she's on her way out.

"I think she hasn't evolved in many fights. I think she's the same fighter in that fight as when she fought me, and unless she changes up something, I think she's on her way out, honestly.

"I hope I'm on her team so I can beat her up everyday."
