Tonight, on the televised main card, XFC 16 will be showcasing Marianna Kheyfets vs. Heather Clark. Every single local fan I've spoken with is excited for this fight - these women can fight!
Heather Clark (4-1-0) recently fought, if you want to call it that (but not in a bad way) against April Coutino. The fight lasted a full ten seconds before Clark knocked Coutino out. Fans loved it, but then again, they were a bit disappointed in a Mike Tysonish kind of way, because they wanted to see a war! Hopefully we'll get to see more of a war when she takes on Marianna Kheyfets (4-0-0) tonight.
It's been said that Kheyfets possesses the technical skills to keep the fight standing and win via strikes, but there's no doubt Clark has stand up skills of her own. Only time will tell if she plans to keep the fight standing or attempt to take her down and submit Kheyfets.
Clark currently trains at Jackson-Winkeljohn’s Martial Arts, and they've been helping her prepare for this fight. If they did as good a job getting her ready for this fight as her fight against Coutino, Kheyfets has a battle on her hands!
Kheyfets, on the other hand, is taking this fight seriously, and not leaving anything to chance: "I respect Heather's game a lot and am taking her very seriously since she's a well rounded fighter and a dangerous finisher. I've stepped my game up in every aspect of MMA and will be a more polished fighter come Feb. 10th!"
Riding high on a 4-fight winning streak, I'm sure Kheyfets will do what she can to beat Clark at her own game and finish this fight, gaining another victory on her way up the ladder: "My goal is to be stronger than her in every aspect of the fight and put on an exciting show for the fans!"
