Xeomin, owned by Merz Aesthetics, is the new Botox. Xeomin contains botulinum toxin type A, a protein purified from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. Xeomin is also sometimes referred to as incobotulinumtoxinA. Botulinum toxin’s are typically used in facial aesthetics to temporarily improve the appearance of crow’s feet and wrinkles.
Xeomin does not need to be refrigerated before use, which may simplify distribution. Xeomin does not have any additives, just botulinum toxin type A. As a result, there is less risk of developing antibodies against Xeomin, or less risk of side effects. The results of Xeomin occur within a week, and last from three to six months, making it comparable to Botox. Infact, Xeomin has been called the new Botox. It is the latest competitor against wrinkles and will very likely bring down the price of Botox.
The holidays are just a couple of months away. For those who wish to diminish crow's feet, wrinkles around the eyes and look youthful at holiday gatherings, talk with your dermatologist to see if Xeomin may be right for you.
