Xenagos, the Reveler is one of the newest "Theros" spoilers revealed today Sept. 4, 2013 from Wizards of the Coast's upcoming expert "Magic: The Gathering" expansion set in an article by Brian Kibler on StarCityGames.com. Xenagos, the Reveler is a powerful mythic rare planeswalker that can help you generate a large amount of mana, create a 2/2 red and green Satyr creature token with haste each turn, or potentially put the top seven cards from your library onto the battlefield.
Xenagos, the Reveler - 2RG
Planeswalker - Xenagos (Mythic Rare)
+1: Add X mana in any combination of R and/or G to your mana pool, where X is the number of creatures you control.
0: Put a 2/2 red and green Satyr creature token with haste onto the battlefield.
-6: Exile the top seven cards of your library. You may put any number of creature and/or land cards from among them onto the battlefield.
Starting loyalty of 3
Xenagos, the Reveler's first ability can help pay for the monstrosity cost of creatures like Ember Swallower, Polukranos, World Eater, and Polis Crusher. It can also be used to cast an overloaded Mizzium Mortars, massive Clan Defiance, or just continue to drop bigger bombs.
Xenagos, the Reveler's second ability is pretty basic: You'll get a 2/2 red and green Satyr creature token with haste. It helps fuel Xenagos, the Reveler's first ability while also protecting him by giving your a blocker if you can't strike out on the offensive right away.
Abusing Xenagos, the Reveler's ultimate ability requires your deck to be light on non-creature non-land cards. In a deck with say a set of Domri Rade and a couple Xenagos, the Reveler and no other non-creature non-land permanents you'll have a very high chance that all seven cards will enter the battlefield. That's an overwhelming amount of card advantage, and if one of the creatures is Purphoros, God of the Forge it'll see all the other creatures that entered at the same time and deal a bunch of damage to all your opponents.
How will you use Xenagos, the Reveler?
