2K Games released a new trailer Wednesday for the XCOM: Enemy Unknown expansion for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, XCOM: Enemy Within. The secret organization find itself in a new and unexpected situation - fighting another secret human organization instead of just aliens.
In XCOM: Enemy Within, a rogue organization, known as EXALT, is threatening to undermine XCOM operations by acquiring alien technology for their own use, according to a press release from 2K Games. You will need to send in covert operatives to track down the source of this new threat and eliminate it.
The trailer also indicates that assaults on the XCOM base may be in play once again. This was a feature in the classic Microprose XCOM: UFO Defense but was missing in Enemy Unknown.
Aside from the new EXALT human adversary, the number of alien adversaries grows more deadly in Enemy Within with the Mechtoid and Seeker. XCOM gets some upgrades to fight back including access to the "Meld" resource which allows the creation of MEC (Mechanized Exoskeleton Cybersuit) Troopers.
Today, Oct. 9, also happens to be the one year anniversary of XCOM: Enemy Unknown. 2K Games is hosting a special livestream on Twitch.tv to celebrate.
The Enemy Within expansion will be released as a stand-alone disk that also contains the original game and all DLC for the PS3 and Xbox 360 on Nov. 12 for $39.99. PC gamers can download the expansion separately from Steam for $29.99.
