With the Xbox one revealed on May 21, many rumors are being confirmed or debunked. One of the confirmations received by Engadget by Microsoft’s senior director of product planning Albert Penello was that the upcoming console will be shipped with a 500GB hard drive. This hard drive will not be removable, and cannot be replaced. However, Penello assured Engadget that alternate storage means will be available.
While Xbox One users will not be able to service the Xbox One’s internal hard drive or replace it with a larger drive, it has been noted that external storage devices can be connected to Microsoft’s new console via one of the three USB 3.0 ports. Connected USB devices will be able to store all content supported by the Xbox One, which includes installed games and downloaded software.
This news comes to us hours after Microsoft came out and revealed the console. Do you support non-removeable hard drives? Let us know in the comments!
