Xbox LIVE and PS Plus cards discounted for Christmas, 3 free games for Xbox 360

If you received a new Playstation 4, Playstation 3, Xbox One or Xbox 360 for Christmas day, Wednesday, it's likely that you'll want a PS Plus or Xbox LIVE Gold subscription as well. A handful of retailers are offering discounts on either or both with some you'll be able to grab immediately with an online code and one that comes with three extra games for the Xbox 360.

Amazon has the 12-Month Xbox LIVE Gold subscription on sale for $49.99 and it comes with a codes for Ms. Explosion Man, The Maw and Kinect flinging game, Wreckateer plus a $5 Amazon Instant Video credit. This is an online code that can be redeemed instantly on the Xbox One and Xbox 360. This deal is good for Christmas Day only and will end at 11:59 p.m. PST / 2:59 a.m. EST.

Over at Best Buy, the 12-Month Xbox LIVE Gold card is on sale for $15 off at $44.99. This includes the coveted Day One Edition card which comes with the Shadow Jago skin for Killer Instinct. Additionally, the 12-month PS Plus card is marked down $15 as well to $34.99. Both have in-store pickup when stores open on Friday as an option or free shipping.

The Playstation Plus card is not marked down at Amazon yet but it may receive a price match to the Best Buy price and has the added benefit of being an online code that can be redeemed immediately.

An Xbox LIVE Gold subscription is needed to play games online on the Xbox One and Xbox 360 as well as to use the different entertainment apps such as Netflix, Hulu Plus and Amazon Instant Video. A PS Plus subscription is required to play games online for the PS4 but the PS3. However, it also comes with free games every month as part of the Instant Game Collection.
