Two new video streaming services were added to the Xbox 360 on Tuesday. Redbox Instant arrives as a direct competitor to Netflix and Amazon Instant Video while the GameTrailers app offers video reviews, previews and more for the game industry.
The Redbox Instant app is available for Xbox LIVE Gold subscribers who also subscribe to the Redbox subscription service which allows unlimited streaming from a library of 4,600 videos starting at $8 a month for four DVD kiosk rentals or $9 a month for four Blu-ray kiosk rentals. Users can also rent and buy movies to stream from the Instant app. Current Xbox LIVE Gold subscribers can check the unlimited streaming portion out for free for a limited time.
Meanwhile, the GameTrailers app is free for Xbox LIVE Gold subscribers and does require any extra subscription. Users will be able to stream the latest videos of the Bonus Round, Pach-Attack, Angry Video Game Nerd and original series like Seedlings. Of course, there are the multitude of video game reviews and previews to view as well.
