The battle between the Xbox 720 and PS4 is going to be epic and entertaining, but one outspoken analyst believes the winner has already surfaced, if you will.
According to a report from StickSkills yesterday, Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter has predicted the Xbox 720 will be winning the console war over the PlayStation 4.
Now as people read this, keep it in perspective and don't go nuts because we still haven't seen what Microsoft is bringing with the Xbox 720.
If rumors are any indication, the Xbox 720 could be seeing a bit of a challenge to the PS4 due to the 720 focusing more on peripheral features than core games. But that all remains to be seen at this point.
Pachter's reasoning for why the Xbox 720 will win the next-generation console war did point to Skype and the TV tuner as being key apps.
He did note that Sony won't struggle as the introduction of Gaikai and the level of content will prove to be advantages for the PlayStation 4, but it will in the end not conquer the Xbox 720.
As for Nintendo, he did go on to note that he thinks they will experience some hardware sales challenges, and that handheld hardware sales will lose traction against smartphones and tablets.
These are all some interesting predictions and observations for the Xbox 720, PS4 and Wii U, but what do gamers think about this?
