Xbox 720 to launch in April, will compete with Wii U and PS4

Earlier this month, Sony unveiled the PS4. They didn't exactly show the console, but they gave us system specifications and showed us a new controller. According to numerous sources such as CVG, the event caught Microsoft Off-Guard as they expected Sony to unveil their console in June at the 2013 E3 event.

Now sources say that Microsoft will unveil the next Xbox in April and release it in the same month. Too good to be true? Not at all. This is a famous technique used by Apple. Most companies show off a product and release it a year later. Apple shows off a product and releases it a week or 2 later. The end result is enormous amounts of sales. It looks like Microsoft is looking to take a page out of Apple's book and go with this strategy as well.

This is different than Nintendo and Sony's approach. Nintendo showed off the Wii U console in June 2011 and release it in November 2012. Sony showed of the PS4 this month and it'll be released before the Holidays. With Microsoft taking a new approach, maybe Nintendo and Sony will learn from this form of marketing.

It's unknown what the next Xbox will be called. It most likely won't be called the Xbox 720. People all over forums say it'll be called "Just Xbox" or "Xbox Loop" but there's nothing to confirm this. Some people say It'll be called "Xbox 362" which in a way, makes sense. The Next Xbox is rumored to have an 8-core processor and 8GB of DDR3 RAM. Also, it's stated to be able to output video in 4K Resolution and have an "Always Online" state. One of the biggest issues of the next xbox is the rumored ban on used games. The Next Xbox could be a hit or miss if they decide to ban used games, but only time will tell what Microsoft has in store for it's die-hard Xbox fans.
