With the reveal of Microsoft and Sony's next-generation systems, the Xbox 720 and PS4, expected to be arriving in the coming months, it seems that we are steadily receiving leaked information regarding the hardware that will be involved with these systems. In reference to this, yesterday VgRumors reported on new details that had been sourced to the Xbox 720.
From the information that was given, it seems that the Xbox 720 may have some type of scaling chip supplied within the system. With the help of this technology, Microsoft will be granted the ability to differ the resolution of the UI and in-game rendering resolutions. It is stated that the user interface can always be set at 1080p, while the rendering resolution can be scaled to a different spec.
In addition to this information, it has also been stated that the Xbox 720 may be released with backwards compatibility. Although this feature may be implemented into the Xbox 720, it is doubted that every title will work with the system.
As with anything of this nature, readers should take this information with a grain of salt. Until information regarding the Xbox 720 is confirmed by Microsoft, nothing should be taken as fact. For those interested, we have listed a few concept photos of the Xbox 720 in the slideshow above this article.
