Through previous information leaks regarding the Xbox 720, it was reported that a new version of the Kinect would be launched alongside this system. It was also reported that every Xbox 720 system will be bundled with this new Kinect device. According to an article that was posted by Kotaku today, it appears that Microsoft will not be making the Kinect an optional accessory any longer. It has been revealed that this may actually be a mandatory requirement for the system to even function.
According to the information given, it is stated that this new Kinect device will be implemented into the Xbox 720 in a way that every console will be guaranteed to have this device present. It is also stated that the new Kinect “will always be watching you,” which is one of the reasons that the Xbox 720 will require this device to function.
The new version of the Kinect will have the ability to track up to six individuals at all times. With the use of this feature, the Xbox 720 will have the ability to engage in certain functions based on what the Kinect tracks. In terms of resolution, it is stated that this new device will be able to support full 1080p resolution, in addition to providing a depth resolution of 512x424.
