Xbox 720 announcement imminent?

Just one day after Sony unveiled the next generation of PlayStation, the PS4, it seems like Microsoft is gearing up to follow their lead. On Feb. 21, 2013, the domain name XboxEvent.com was registered by U.S. Techs, an event management company that recently rebranded itself as Eventcore. U.S. Techs was the company behind past Xbox related domains, so it seems like an announcement is around the corner.

There have also been numerous reports that Microsoft will hold a press event in April, where the Xbox 720 is expected to be announced. Microsoft still has yet to comment on the rumored console.

It was reported earlier this month that the next Xbox may require Kinect to function, require games to be installed on the system’s hard drive, and once the game starts to install, players would be able to play while it finishes in the background. The background install feature was recently confirmed to be a part of the PlayStation 4’s features, so it stands to reason that it might possibly be true of the Xbox as well.
