Back when “Battlefield 3” was initially announced last year, DICE displayed an astounding technical achievement on both the PC and console versions of this title with the use of the new Frostbite 2 engine. Following the release of “Battlefield 3,” EA has chosen to implement this video game engine into a variety of titles that have been published from this company.
With the approaching release of next generation consoles, this being the Xbox 720 and PS4, Bioware has confirmed that they will be using Frostbite 2 exclusively for all titles moving forward. Delivered through the newest issue of Game Informer, Bioware's General Manager Aarynn Flynn has stated the following in regards to Frostbite 2 being used in future titles.
I think so. When we look at Frostbite and the success we’re having with it with Dragon Age 3 and the support we’re getting from teams around EA, it’s fun being a part of an organization and community that’s doing good work with that technology.
The PC platform has really showcased what this game engine can do with the proper hardware applied to it. Through the use of Microsoft and Sony's next generation consoles, which is expected to be the Xbox 720 and PS4, it can be expected that we will see unparalleled advances in the type of material presented within future titles with the use of this engine.
