For quite some time now, it has been expected that id Software was working on the next installment to the “Doom” franchise, which will be entitled “Doom 4.” Although no specific platforms have been confirmed for this title, it seems that it may actually be headed to Microsoft and Sony's unannounced next generation systems, which is expected to be the Xbox 720 and PS4.
With the help of Stickskills on Jan. 6, we have discovered a tweet that was sent by lead programmer Brian Harris that could be related to “Doom 4.” Below, you can view the statement that was given through his official Twitter account:
Currently home taking care of a new baby girl.
When I get back, I’ll help port the big project to new platforms.
With the following information given, this leads to major speculation about “Doom 4” coming to the Xbox 720 and PS4. It is currently expected that these two systems will be announced by E3 2013, with an official release by the end of the year. If this information comes to be true, we should be able to expect some type of confirmation in the coming months.
We have also listed a few unofficial concept photos of the Xbox 720 and PS4 in the slide-show above this article.
