With the release of the generation consoles, the Xbox 720 and PS4, it is expected that the overall cost of development for titles on this hardware will be more costly than current generation systems. Yesterday, Take-Two made a surprising response to this statement when referring to game development on the PS4 and Xbox 720.
When asked a question on the expected development cost of creating a title, such as the upcoming "GTA 5," for the Xbox 720 and PS4, Take-Two's CEO Strauss Zelnick said “We don’t have any reason to believe our development budgets will change significantly. If anything we have become group wide much tighter in terms of how we spend our money. We can’t say specifically, but no we don’t expect to see a meaningful change in what it costs us to release these top quality products.”
Continuing discussion on the topic of generation consoles, Zelnick explains that Take-Two has exciting plans for things to come for these systems. “Assuming next-gen consoles are coming and some of us think they are, Take-Two will have extraordinary offerings when it comes.”
