Xbox 720 and PlayStation 4 won't be main gaming platform, tablets will? (Photos)

The Xbox 720 and PlayStation 4 will be delivering a lot of new content and technology to gamers and developers alike, but one mobile developer believes tablet gaming is going to be the dominant platform in the future.

According to a report from VG24/7 on Monday, Zynga’s president of games, Steve Chiang, talked about how and why he thinks the tablet is quickly becoming the ultimate gaming platform.

"I think the tablet’s becoming almost the ultimate game platform. I play before I go to bed, and when I wake up, I play on my tablet.

"Imagine 'FarmVille 2' on a tablet, you can see the detail on a bigger farm and be able to manipulate things, getting a full experience on a tablet.

"We announced in the earnings call that 'FarmVille 2' is coming to mobile, and tablets. I expect a number of our ‘Ville games to come to tablets in 2013," Chiang said.

It's extremely bold to say tablets are going to be the ultimate gaming platform well before the Xbox 720 and PlayStation 4 are even released.

Mobile and tablet gaming are certainly relevant and a major part of gaming, however, it is not ready to be called the ultimate gaming platform.

Perhaps it is wisest to wait for the Xbox 720 and PlayStation 4 to release before such statements are throw around like that one.
