Xbox 720 and PlayStation 4 going episodic will improve gaming going forward (Photos)

There will be many new styles and overall content once the Xbox 720 and PlayStation 4 debut, and one of the switches that people may see is the increase in the amount of episodic gaming coming from developers.

According to a report from GameSpot yesterday, "Metal Gear" father Hideo Kojima talked about how the development teams that prioritize the best will succeed over the course of the Xbox 720 and PS4's life cycles.

"It’s possible to make many things more realistic, but that doesn’t mean you should.

"You have to prioritize, and that is what’s going to separate the teams that succeed from the teams that don’t.

"[But] I think there’s a different way of tackling this problem: something similar to a TV series, where you can use pilot episodes to test the waters before you jump completely into the project," Kojima said.

Kojima then discussed how he thinks the episodic development of gaming will perhaps even move to a phase where it becomes social.

"I think there’ll be a social aspect to game creation, because it will be more interactive. You’ll get user feedback, and I think there’ll be this back-and-forth between users and creators," Kojima said.
