Xbox 720 and PlayStation 4 coming: Gamers don't care about Wii Mini (Photos)

With Xbox 720 and PlayStation 4 just around the corner, it's a good time to release the Wii Mini, right? Gamers do not seem to think so.

According to a report from VG24/7 on Thursday, a new poll that has been released reveals that 74% of folks living in the UK think the Nintendo console is pointless.

There seemed to only be a little over 1,000 people who were surveyed for this, so it's not exactly a solid representation of the whole country.

So the poll posed the question to people asking, "are you excited about the Wii Mini announcement?" People's responses were 76% no and 24% yes.

After that, people were then asked to provide reasoning for their answers, and they were as follows: "Don't see the point" 74%, "no advance in graphics" 56%, "just rehashing an old console, not a technological advancement" 49%, "small size not a big enough selling point" 47%, "small size not a big enough selling point" 47% and "already own an original Wii" 42%.

Not sure how those percentages add up to 100%, but that was the information that was provided apparently.

Another question the poll asked was "would you be likely to purchase a Wii Mini once it's released?" The responses turned out to be 61% said no, 22% said yes and 17% don't know.

VoucherCodesPro’s George Charles spoke about the results of the poll.

"It seems that despite the release of the Wii U and with the recent announcement of the PS4 and the anticipated Xbox 720, Nintendo still felt the need to get in there with another release. Unfortunately for them, gamers just aren’t bothered; according to our poll at least.

"It’s an exciting time for gamers who’ve been waiting several years for the next big console release.

"But the Wii Mini doesn’t carry the same gravitas. With no anticipation of improved graphics and no real advance on the original console, is it the case of flogging a dead horse?" Charles said.
