One of the best features of owning an Xbox 360 is the ability to instant stream TV and movies via Netflix through the console. It's gotten so good that many people have dropped their cable and satellite providers for Netflix and other streaming services like Hulu.
Normally you have to have not only a Netflix account, but Xbox Live Gold to stream Netflix on your console. This weekend however, it's going to be completely free.
Major Nelson announced this morning that as long as you have a Netflix subscription (which you can get a forty eight hour trial of) you won't need Xbox Live Gold to use the service.
If you're looking for a little more this weekend, Hulu's Adzone can be accessed without needing to have a Hulu Plus account. For that however you will need Xbox Live Gold, but it's well worth the cost of admission.
Netflix and Hulu will make you rethink paying for cable no doubt, as both cost less then ten bucks a month and with Xbox Live Gold being twenty five a month, that's way cheaper then your standard TV bill.
The free Netflix for the weekend runs until late Sunday night, so get to watching right now while you can.
