Cincinnati(OH) - Butler (1-1) reverted back to last season's struggles at Xavier (2-0) lossing 62-47.

The Bulldogs struggled against the pressure defense of Xavier and found themselves trailing for much of the game.

The Musketeers were supposed to be in rebuilding mode this season, but showed they may just be reloading. Picked to finish 9th in the 16-team Atlantic 10, Xavier dominated the Bulldogs on the defensive end and forced Butler to just 36% shooting.

Xavier stifled Butler's new offensive stars Rotnei Clarke and Kellen Dunham. The two guards shot a combined 7-of-18 from the floor (2-of-10 from 3-point range) and 18 points.

The two guards had 39 points in the season opening win over Elon.

Senior forward and Indianapolis-native Jeff Robinson led the Musketeers with 17 points and 8 rebounds.

Xavier led 36-29 at half time.

Butler shot 19-of-52 (36.5%) from the field, including 4-of-18 (22.2%) from 3-point range. Xavier shot 23-of-46 (50%) from the field, including 5-of-17 (29.4%) from 3-point range.

The game was a part of ESPN's Tipoff Marathon.

Butler now travels to Hawaii for the Maui Invitational presented by EA Sports. The Bulldogs take on Marquette (2-0) at 3:30 EST on ESPN2.
