Cupertino based Xangati has officially launched their virtual Tweet for Tots campaign which is leveraging social media tools in order to benefit Toys for Tots this holiday season. Xangati has pledged to donate one toy for each tweet on San Francisco based Twitter which uses hashtags #VirtualTweet4Tots and #VirtualWishList.
Alan Robin, CEO Xangati: “We want to make it as easy as possible for people to give to a worthy cause; as simple as typing 140 characters on a keyboard or mobile device. Xangati has a lot of followers in the virtualization industry, and we are hoping to maximize our Twitter connections and the generosity of that community to accomplish something everyone can support; delivering a new toy to a less fortunate child. I can’t think of anything in the world more rewarding than giving a gift to a child in need.”
The Tweet for Tots campaign is the first of its’ kind for the US Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program. Xangati has pledged to donate up to 250 toys for each tweet using the specified hashtags in order to help spread some holiday cheer to needy children this holiday season.
To participate, send a tweet using hashtags #VirtualTweet4Tots and #VirtualWishList. The tweet must also include a #VirtualWishList item for 2012
