On Saturday, March 16 at 9:30 a.m., media and VIP guests were given the opportunity to personally experience the newest attraction the Rapids Water Park, a double FlowRider by Wave Loch Inc. The park, located at 6566 North Military Trail, Riviera Beach, FL 33407, is currently celebrating their 35th year of operation, and has continuously improved and adapted the facility to keep up with the times.
In addition to the parks other 35 watery attractions, they can now boast the only FlowRider in Palm Beach County. It’s continuous, simulated wave system, moves 30,000 gallons of water per minute keeping the waves in one location allowing bodyboarders to ride the curl riding waves over a fixed surface at 35 mph.
Xana Nash, FlowRider’s Women's World Pro Flowboarding Champion, was on hand to show and teach some of her award winning moves. The 14-year old is now the number one rider in the world and the youngest ever to hold the title. Xana also recently won the U.S. Open Female Flowboarding Championship in her first year on the Carbon FLOW Tour, the sport’s leading competitive circuit. She earned the title based on her best six results at some of the tour’s 10 stops all over the U.S. last year.
Other new additions to the park this year include the Picnic-In-The-Park Pavilions; Big Surf Cabanas; and the Tobago Trading Company retail store.
The Local Getaways Examiner will be at the park next month to check things out. If you're a regular reader of this column, maybe you'll see me. You'll either find me lounging in the lazy river, plummeting head first down one of the waterslides, or relaxing with an adult beverage in one of the cabanas. You never can tell!
Be sure to keep following this column for news and reviews of some of the best waterparks, including Adventure Island, Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach, Wet and Wild, Dolly's Splash Country and more!
