'X-Men' rumors: Mark Millar promises Sentinels in next movie

Comic book creator and current Fox movie studio advisor Mark Millar spoke to SFX on Feb. 1 about the upcoming "X-Men: Days of Future Past." Millar had some interesting things to talk about but the best spoiler of all was the fact that The Sentinels will be in the movie.

Millar made his name writing "The Ultimates" Marvel title before setting out to write his creator-owned comics like "Kick-Ass" and "Wanted." Fox brought him in to oversee their Marvel movies, "X-Men" and "The Fantastic Four." From what he has seen so far from the new "X-Men" movie, he is happy.

He explained that "X-Men: First Class" director Matthew Vaughn and Simon Kinberg worked on the script together and then Bryan Singer, "Mr. X-Men," came in and was able to put everything together. When asked about the large cast, such as the returning members from the original trilogy and the new guys from the "First Class" prequel, Millar said it was like "Lost," in that all the characters get their moment to shine.

He also clarified the two big questions from comic book fans. Yes, there will be Sentinels and Kitty Pride will play a large role in the movie, just as she did in the comic version of the tale.

"Sentinels are a big feature of this story," Millar said. "They will be cool and this will deliver on all of the teasers. We’ve all been waiting for this ever since X-Men: The Last Stand showed us one of their heads. Now it is finally coming."

"X-Men: Days of Future Past" hits theaters on July 18, 2014.
