'X-Men: Days of Future Past' announces three returning stars

Bryan Singer reached out to his twitter followers with another casting announcement for "X-Men: Days of Future Past" on Jan. 26. According to the returning director, Shawn Ashmore, Anna Paquin and Ellen Page are all returning for this new movie.

Those three actors portrayed Iceman, Rogue and Kitty Pride respectively.

This movie is a sequel to "X-Men: First Class," and since these three characters appeared in the original trilogy, which took place decades later, that might cause some confusion for movie fans. However, here is what you need to know.

The story, straight from the comic books, has Kitty Pride travel back in time to warn the X-Men that Magneto and his brotherhood will assassinate a U.S. Senator who is anti-mutants. This causes the world to turn against the mutant population and the government places them in concentration camps. They also build giant robots called Sentinels to hunt down the renegade mutants and kill them.

The only way to stop this future from happening is to stop the assassination.

Also resigned is Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen, who will reprise their roles as Professor X and Magneto in the future, while James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender will continue to portray the men in the film's present day, which is rumored to jump forward a decade into the '70s. Hugh Jackman has also signed on to play Wolverine again in the movie.
