Eels may be slimy and creepy-looking but, based on a new picture featuring a topless Gillian Anderson, they do make a decent substitution for a scarf.
The former star of the “X-Files” posed nude with the slithery sea creature for the Fishlove organization in an attempt to bring awareness to the effects of overfishing and lend support to a petition that would end deep-sea trawling.
Anderson sent out a tweet yesterday urging her followers to sign the petition that comes ahead of a European Parliament vote on whether to end the practice of deep-sea trawling, a controversial fishing method that some scientists claim is hurting fish populations.
“Amazing animals that live in the deep ocean are being systematically destroyed by massive fishing nets that catch or crush everything in their path,” the petition reads. “But in days, the European Parliament could vote to protect one of the world’s most precious deep-sea habitats - and we need to give them the public mandate to do it.”
The Fishlove campaign has enlisted other famous U.K. celebrities to pose nude with various sea animals, including sharks, bass, and redfish. The portraits were captured by acclaimed French photographer Denis Rouvre.
