"X Factor" aired the second week of 4 chair challenges on October 9, 2013 and tonight it was all about the boys. While 10 hopeful acts auditioned for the "boys" category, only 4 would make it through to X Factor's live shows. So, which acts did mentor Paulina Rubio choose? Read on for the results.
Up first in the four chair challenge was "X Factor" hopeful, Al Calderon. The judges agreed that Al made a bad song choice. His vocals were shaky and pitchy but despite all of that Paulina Rubio seated Al Calderon is one of the 4 chairs.
Isaiah Alston didn't have a chance. He began his "X Factor" performance off key and Isaiah never recovered. His vocals were pitchy throughout the entire song. Paulina Rubio eliminated Isiah, he did not survive the 4 chair challenge.
Isaac Tauaefa followed in Isaiah's footsteps. Isaac's voice broke during a high note and not in a good way. Paulina Rubio sent him home.
Carlos Guevara gave a wonderful rendition of "Ain't No Sunshine" and received positive feedback from X Factor's judges panel. Paulina Rubio thought Carlos had, "great interpretation and that's something unique," and seated him in chair number 2 of the 4 chair challenge.
Stone Martin wowed the judges with his cuteness. They liked his tone and marketability even though his performance was a bit robotic. Paulina Rubio thought Stone could be like "a male Taylor Swift" and gave Stone a chair.
Chase Goehring, like many before him picked the wrong song choice. It was agreed by all 4 "X Factor" judges that Chase gave a better performance during his first audition. Based on that very first "X Factor" audition, Paulina Rubio seated Chase in the fourth and final chair.
Tim Olstad chose to sing "The Climb", a popular song choice for many "X Factor" hopefuls. Tim impressed all but Paulina, "I think there's something special about you but I don't know if it's special enough." But in the end, Tim was given a seat in the 4 chair challenge and Stone Martin was sent home.
Carlito Olivero gave a beautiful performance that Paulina Rubio liked a lot. "You have great range and power. I love your voice. You are in my final 4, take a seat." Chase Goehring was sent home so that Carlito could sit.
Timmy Thames looked like a superstar already but Demi and Kelly weren't impressed. Simon Cowell on the other hand was telling Paulina Rubio, "He's the one. You gotta keep him." Paulina agreed calling Timmy, "a little Michael Jackson" and giving him a seat in the 4 chair challenge.
But in order to seat Timmy, one of the 4 already chosen during the 4 chair challenge must be eliminated. Paulina Rubio decided to send Tim Olstad home. Wrong choice Paulina. The "X Factor" audience went crazy, shouting their displeasure. Before the crowd becomes too unruly Paulina calls a time-out.
"I don't care what the audience is saying, I only care about how I feel. I can't live with myself, I want him back," says Paulina. Tim Olstad is ushered back on stage and Paulina Rubio continues. "Being a mentor isn't easy...I am only human and I make mistakes." Tim Olstad takes a seat once again.
But someone must be eliminated from "X Factor" so that Timmy Thames has an open chair to sit in. Paulina Rubio sends Al Calderon packing and the audience is happy once again. The 4 chair challenge continues.
Josh Levi was the last act in Paulina Rubio's 4 chair challenge. His rendition of "I Can't Make You Love Me" blew away the "X Factor" judges. Words like "perfection", "super star" and "overwhelming presence" were used to describe Josh's performance. Paulina Rubio put Josh Levi in her top 4 and sent Timmy Thames home.
