On Jan. 15, 2014, Fox premiered the 13th season of "American Idol" with an episode showing auditions in Boston and Austin. And people who watched "The X Factor" U.S. in 2011 might have recognized a familiar face in this "American Idol" episode: Austin Percario, who auditioned for "American Idol" in Boston.

He originally auditioned for "The X Factor" U.S. in 2011 as part of the duo AusEm (pronounced "awesome"). AusEm was rejected as a duo but then "The X Factor" put the two members of AusEm and other rejected contestants in the 10-member kids group InTENsity, which ultimately came in 12th place in the competition. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Percario (who is now a solo artist) auditioned for "American Idol" in 2012. That audition wasn't shown on TV, but his 2013 audition for "American Idol" was.

Percario (who is now 18 but was 17 at the time of the "American Idol" Season 13 audition) is shown performing David Guetta's "Titanium" in front of judges Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Jr.

Percario's mother, who accompanied him to the audition, is prominently featured in the segment, since Percario called her a "stage mom," and the judges asked her to come into the audition room. All three judges said "yes" to Percario, so he's on to the next round: Hollywood Week.

We'll be posting updates here on how Percario does on "American Idol." It's rare for someone to make it to the Top 12 in two different TV talent shows, so we'll see what happens.

UPDATE: Percario was eliminated during "American Idol's" Hollywood Week, which is similar to "The X Factor's" boot camp.
