August 24, 2010 -- The competition show 'X Factor' has got the country of UK steaming. A beloved show has apparently acknowledged the use of an autotune machine for some contestants. This scandal is so volatile that one of the UK papers used the caption in today's headlines calling the show 'X Faker.'

Is the use of autotune cheating? What if the contestants don't know they are being tuned? What about then.

An autotune machine makes notes off key less noticed as it smooths out the sounds. It also can fill in, all automatically, for contestants to sound at the same level in case their voice drops. It is used by entertainers in the business who perform for final cuts on albums (well most performers as some say it is unprofessional) and it has been a big issue for performers who are for and against the machine.

During the audition of one contestant Gamu Nhengu, fans pointed out specific instances where they are alleging the machine is used. While a response was expected from the show, what wasn't expected was a half confirmation that the machine could be used. While nobody is arguing that this contestant isn't talented, they are saying she got help allegedly while other contestants didn't. That appears to be serious unfair.

A spokesman for The X Factor told the Press Association that 'post-production work was necessary due to the number of microphones used during filming.' If there was an autotune, then it definitely worked as Simon Cowell loved the performance.

Laughing aside, this is a serious matter as 'X Factor' is coming to America and we surely don't want the thought of cheating on our contestant shows. This would definitely rip the headlines here as as scandal as well. Take a listen to one of 5 contestants fans say are using the autotune machine.

Do you find this enhancement fair for a competition?
