You may know Jason Brock as one of the Top 12 Finalists on “The X Factor.”
But I know him from his great performance as one of last summer's Hedwigs in Boxcar Theatre's "Hedwig and the Angry Inch." The show is back and so is Jason Brock, starting tonight and he's in it until March 3 (even though the show will continue with other great talents.)
When I attended "Hedwig" last year, even though it was an ensemble cast with many great performances, Brock was a standout. He blew the roof off the intimate theatre and, in an instant, a star was born.
Brock of course isn’t an overnight sensation. I sat down and talked with him through progressivepulse.com and we discussed some of things from his past and a lot about his future, including his return to “Hedwig.” He also give us a little dirt…er…data…on “The X Factor.” Click on the Progressive Pulse video to get the inside scoop: www.progressivepulse.com/music/x-marks-the-spot-jason-brock-returns-to-s...
Our chat with Brock at the Hotel Mark Twain happened to be anniversary of the same week Billie Holiday put the hotel on the map when she was arrested there on Jan. 22, 1949, putting the hotel on the Top Ten Famous Hotel Rooms list. Maybe Brock too will make history himself.
The interview does mention a concert at Live at the Rrazz which has been cancelled but the show Brock planned to do will be coming soon to San Francisco. In the meantime, his fans can enjoy him at “Hedwig” and/or an after-show cabaret at the Boxcar Theatre on Feb. 22 and 23 and March 1 and 2.
Get tickets and dates for “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” (and Jason’s after show cabaret) at www.boxcartheatre.org. Cabaret tickets are almost like going to a speakeasy so to get them, you may want to call 415.967.BCAR (2227) or email email@example.com.
