With each New Year come new resolutions made, promises of change to better oneself and improve one's quality of life. Skaters are no different; they've made big resolutions, small resolutions, and even humorous ones. Here's a sampling of resolutions for Wyoming roller derby skaters:
“My 2013 Derby Resolution: Improve my strategy knowledge and quick thinking to become a better pivot on the track.” The Deathly Haller, Cheyenne Capidolls
“My resolution this year is to lose my fear on the track and find a way to always keep my head in the game. I want to play as well as I practice. I resolve to be the best skater I can be for my team. I also resolve to be the most focused and dedicated member I can be to help my team and to further this sport I have fallen in love with. Oh, and of course, lose 10 pounds and cross train every day.” Maiden Payne, Casper’s Deadly Ghosts
“No more broken bones so I can start again” Powderpuff Puncher, Cheyenne Capidolls
“As silly as this sounds, my resolution/goal for the new year is to rock 30 in 5.” ~cHELLE on Wheels, Coal Miners Daughters
“To put on muscle!” – Bat Chick Crazy, Jackson Hole Juggernauts
“I want to improve my jamming skills, I have worked on blocking for 3 years now and feel very confident in that, but now it is time to work on jamming to become that all around derby player!!” – Miss Meladjusted, A’Salt Creek Roller Girls
“My 2013 derby resolution is to become faster and increase my endurance.”- Bang-a-Rang Faye, Naughty Pines Derby Dames
“Wash my pads at least once” –Shockley, Cheyenne Capidolls
“To be more aggressive defense-wise and will get a derby tattoo!!!” Randi Wheels, Jackson Hole Juggernauts
”Develop a pre bout routine that will mentally and physically bring me to my best for every jam.” – Hellacious Hustler, Cheyenne Capidolls
“Convince Daddy Peter why he needs to buy me new roller skates!” – Razor Ribbons, Jackson Hole Juggernauts
“I definitely have a few derby resolutions this year. There is always room for improvement in this sport. I AM going to drink more water and take better care of my body and not be so careless about my diet. I also want to help other skaters with the skills and knowledge that I have gained from roller derby. Even if its helping one person in the littlest way, its still the most amazing feeling to watch them grow from what you have shared with them. We cant do it without one another, and the friendships you build throughout this experience is what makes this sport so amazing.” ~ Roll Pounce, Cheyenne Capidolls
"My roller derby resolution for 2013 is quite simple: be on the jammer line when the whistle blows." ~ Sadie Godiva, Jackson Hole Juggernauts
“Learn to skate!” - Purple Mama V1xn-Lips, Cheyenne Capidolls
Good luck to all these skaters and more who made roller derby resolutions for 2013!
