Wyoming Roller Derby All-Stars: The Reserves (Photos)

Recently, skaters and fans submitted a list of their favorite Wyoming roller derby skaters for the Wyoming 2012 Roller Derby All Stars & MVP. Here are the six that made the All-Stars, but are serving as reserves for this year. This means that these ladies received enough votes to make the list, but not enough to make the official “roster” for this year. These ladies are true powerhouses and forces to be reckoned with and you can expect to hear more about them in the future. Without further ado, here they are, your 2012 Wyoming Roller Derby All-Stars: The Reserves.

EEKlips, Cheyenne Capidolls. EEKlips was an original member of the Cheyenne Capidolls. After their first undefeated season, EEKlips was recruited by other leagues and now skates for the Mile High Club. Last November, EEKlips won the Blocker MVP at the 2012 WFTDA Championships. Her sister, Venus V1xen is also a skater for the Capidolls.

Zia Later, Cheyenne Capidolls. Zia Later is one of the original members of the Cheyenne Capidolls. In 2012 she was the Stars Team Co-Captain, however due to a move this past season will be her last with the Capidolls. She shares her number, #505, with her sister Shannonball, who now skates for Bay Area. Shockley from the Capidolls has said of Zia, “Her skills and attitude encourage those around her to perform at their best at all times.”

Nuc ‘Em Out a.k.a. Pumpkin, Cheyenne Capidolls. When people voted for Pumpkin, they referred to her unstoppable jamming ability. “Nimble and fast, Pumpkin is the perfect combination of agility, speed and focus to make her a powerhouse jammer with us from the beginning.” – Hellacious Hustler, Cheyenne Capidolls. If you have more info on Pumpkin to add, contact me here.

Dramatic Pyrony, Jackson Hole Juggernauts. Dramatic Pyrony, also known as Pyro, is a powerhouse to the Jackson Hole Juggernauts. One of two skaters with previous roller derby experience, Pyro was a crucial member to the success of the Juggernauts first season. On the track, Pyro is nearly unstoppable as a jammer and a concrete wall when skating as a blocker or pivot. Pyro is an amazing triple threat, and was voted MVP for her league in 2012.

Kodiak Attacks, Naughty Pines Derby Dames and Prairie Fire Roller Girls. After her daughter, Eskimaul, began roller derby, Kodiak followed shortly after. The pair have been skating since childhood and were called unstoppable and amazing when voted for. It appears they skate for both the Naughty Pines Derby Dames and the Prairie Fire Roller Girls. Unfortunately, detailed information and an action photo were not to be found. If you have more info you’d like to add, please contact me here.

Maiden Payne, Casper’s Deadly Ghosts. Maiden Payne is the matriarch of Casper’s Deadly Ghosts, which has had an active first season. Those that voted for Maiden talked about her dedication, friendly demeanor, and willingness to share knowledge or lend skaters to those in need. Don’t be fooled though, she’s a tough competitor, as shown by these two quotes that came from skaters from other leagues.

“She's gotten Best Jammer many times, and deserved every one of them.” – Debbie Mercury, Powder River Rousta Bou tit Betties and Naughty Pines Derby Dames

“She's a power house for blocking on the track and she leads her Casper Deadly Ghosts with a great dedication." – The Deathly Haller, Cheyenne Capidolls

Those are six fabulous skaters who exhibit the skills and qualities of what makes roller derby so great. If you know these ladies, please congratulate them and thank them for all they do. They deserve it!
