He is one of the best jazz trumpeters period and he will be playing with his Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra at the Segerstrom Center for the Performing Arts in Costa Mesa on Friday, March 14, at 7:30 pm. He is Wynton Marsalis and he is New Orleans bred. Marsalis has studied the greats in jazz including Louis Armstrong and Art Blakey. He brings his immense talent to southern California for a special tribute to the music of Count Basie and Duke Ellington.
The Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra has 15 members who have played around the world before millions of jazz lovers for over 25 years. It is pretty apparent that they will continue to have more followers of their music after they play at Segerstrom. Speaking of Segerstrom, there are four unique performance venues including: the Samueli Theater which holds 300 seats, Segerstrom Hall holds 3,000 seats, Founders Hall 250 seats and the Renee and Henry Segerstrom concert hall which seats 1,700.
