Wyclef Jean rep: 'Enemy shooters' won't deter Haiti election

After Wyclef Jean's shooting on Sunday, music manager Jimmy Rosemond openly confessed opinion on who shot Wyclef in Haiti. In the midst of a heated election for a new president, Rosemond says despite "enemies of progressive change" being responsible for Jean's shooting, it won't deter the Haitian-native's drive for a better Haiti or his party's support behind presidential hopeful Michel "Sweet Micky" Martelly.

WYCLEF'S MUSIC MANAGER CHIMES IN ON ENEMY SHOOTERS

In a statement released to the AP, Rev. Al Sharpton included statement from Rosemond about Wyclef's shooting. Rosemond, accompanying Jean during election support in Haiti and at rallies, is pointing the fingers at the opposition.

WYCLEF REP: "THIS INCIDENT WILL NOT DETER ELECTION"

"It is clear that enemies of progressive change in Haiti are behind the shooting of Wyclef – those that don't want to accept that a monumental change is inevitable for the betterment of the Haitian people," Rosemond said. "This incident will not deter those of us that see the election as crucial to the country's future."

WYCLEF COVERED IN BLOOD AFTER SHOOTING

Wyclef Jean was shot in the hand in Haiti on Sunday after exiting a vehicle to make a phone call. According to the 41-year-old musician and Haitian advocate, the bullet "grazed" his right hand. Jean says he heard "blow, blow, blow" and then looked down to see blood over his jeans and shoes.

AL SHARPTON: "WE CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR WYCLEF"

"We are happy that Wyclef is OK," Sharpton also said in the statement. "But we continue to pray for him and for a peaceful and fair election today in Haiti."

WYCLEF JEAN UNDETERRED AFTER SHOOTING

Despite the shooting, Wyclef Jean told the AP he will recover in quick time at an "undisclosed location" in order to get back out and cast ballot for Martelly, his friend and music comrade, against opposing presidential candidate Mirlande Manigat.
