Wyclef Jean hiding over Haiti presidency (photos, video)
Wyclef Jean is now hiding after he received death threats during the waiting period to see if he can run as president in Haiti in November.
Wyclef Jean is said to be hiding at a secret location despite death threats that told him to leave the country. No details are forthcoming about who made the threats, says the Guardian.
The ex-Fugees star is not certain to be eligible over residency issues and it is possible there may be dozens of applicants for the Haiti presidency.
The announcement of whether Wyclef Jean will be eligible under the requirements of Haiti's constitution will be made on Friday, says CNN
In the meantime he has to remain in hiding
In several emails sent to the Associated Press, Wyclef Jean said he did not know what the electoral commission's decision would be.
Jean told press "We await the CEP decision but the laws of the Haitian constitution must be respected."
Currently lawyers for Wyclef Jean are fighting his case with the electoral commission re Jean's bid to run as president of Haiti.
If the approval goes through to run for the presidency, it's very possible Jean will be among the frontrunners, but his residency in the USA (New Jersey) since childhood could see his dream quickly crushed.
Jean, the rapper for the Fugees said "I think my candidacy is a wild card for Haiti," reports San Francisco news station ABC 7 News talking about his bid for presidency.
Wyclef Jean was born in Haiti but moved to the US when he was nine years old. This fact could prevent him being considered for the presidency of Haiti, a country broken by earthquakes and previous poor government, reports the Guardian
This story about Wyclef Jean being in hiding in Haiti is ongoing. It is not certain what will happen when he comes out of hiding. His safety will certainly be at risk.

Without a doubt, living in the U.S. is still the best! Haiti and other countries around the world won't tolerate anything or anyone. U.S. might not be "perfect" (matter of interpretation and perception), but still better than other places when it's on freedom, liberty, and opportunity. We can no longer take the U.S., our country, for granted. Let's defend and protect her. We certainly don't want to be like other countries--esp. the bad ones! Wish W. Jean the best in luck and safety on his good intention and vision for Haiti. Sounds like there are rivals who want to continue to control Haiti, enslave the good people of Haiti, and eliminate their challengers.
its not really weird because that how haitian are its haitian
