Singer Wyclef Jean has accused actor Sean Penn of using cocaine. The accusation comes after Sean Penn revealed Jean was a poor choice to be President of Haiti due to his "non-presence."
During a concert over the weekend Wyclef Jean sand his song "President" and changed some of the lyrics. Jean sang, "I got a message for Sean Penn: Maybe he ain't see me in Haiti because he was too busy sniffing cocaine."
Sean Penn has since fired back as Wyclef releasing a statement through his rep. "Mr. Jean is clearly unfamiliar with the physical demands put upon volunteers in Haiti. As aid workers there, the notion of depleting the body's immune system through the use of illicit drugs is ludicrous. More specifically, J/P Haitian Relief Organization (a.k.a. JPHRO) has a ZERO tolerance policy for any and all illegal drugs. As the leader of this organization, Sean Penn has not only set this policy, but adheres to it. That Mr. Jean would make such a false accusation is reckless and saddening, but not surprising."
Both Sean Penn and Wyclef Jean have been wildly active in the Haitian earthquake relief. Wyclef, who was born in Haiti, announced his plans to run for President earlier this Summer. However, Wyclef's plans were put on hold when it was determined that he didn't meet all the requirements. "I'll never quit," he told Newsweek about the ruling. "I'll run in another five years."
"Wyclef Jean and Sean Penn have the same goal, to help Haiti. I don't see why they can't put their differences aside and work together for the Haitian people," tweeted one Cleveland resident. What are your thoughts on the Wyclef Jean, Sean Penn feud over Haiti? Leave your comments below.
